Netcare Pinehaven has been developed as part of Netcare’s vision to expand health facilities amid the growing Krugersdorp community. The landscape has been designed and developed on behalf of Bertha Wium Landscape Development.
The large open spaces surrounding and leading up to the building were designed to provide a serene environment for patients and visitors to enjoy; whilst outside or from specific vantage points inside the building.
The strong linearity of the planting against the building and leading up to the main entrance, is offset by large expanses of lawn with meandering planting beds along the site boundary walls. There is a constant play of seasonal colour with flowering plants such as the Wild Garlic (Tulbaghia violacea), Large Wild Iris (Dietes grandifora) and Red Hot Pokers (Kniphofia praecox).
The Indigenous plant palette has adapted well to the environment and survived a long period of water shortage that plagued the development during the end of 2015.
